Import Duties & Customs Information

Please note that international orders may be subject to import duties, taxes, or customs fees charged by your local authorities. These charges are not included in your order total and are the responsibility of the recipient.
 

To support accurate customs assessment, Moonsong Magic issues a commercial invoice / customs receipt that separates physical materials from professional services. On this invoice, 40% of the item value is allocated to physical materials, while the remaining portion represents design, handling, and production services.
 

In most countries, customs duties are applied only to the materials portion of an order, along with shipping where applicable. This means that, while the full order value reflects the total cost of a custom-made item, only the materials portion is generally considered dutiable.
 

A Note on Import Duties (US Customers)

We declare all international shipments at the actual cost of manufacture — never at retail/sale price. This is standard practice and keeps your declared customs value as low as it can legitimately be.

That said, import duty rates have become genuinely unpredictable over the past year. The US removed the duty-free exemption for low-value imports in 2026, which means every international order now goes through formal customs assessment , there's no longer a threshold under which small orders slip through untaxed. On top of that, some product categories (including certain swimwear and apparel classifications) carry duty rates well above the general average, and country-specific tariff rates have been shifting every few months.

Because of this, we can no longer give you a reliable dollar estimate, anything we quote risks being outdated by the time your order ships. As a rough sense of scale: recent US customers have reported total duty-and-fee charges in the range of 25–40% of declared value, sometimes more, plus a separate processing/handling fee charged by the courier for clearing the package (typically $15–$30, billed by the courier, not by us).

We know this is frustrating, especially when it's unexpected. If you'd like a clearer sense of what to expect before you order, we're happy to point you toward a customs duty calculator for your specific product type and country — just ask before checkout. Duties and any courier fees are the responsibility of the customer and are not included in your order total.

Refusal by customer to pay assessed fees will result in the return or abandonment of shipment. Packages will not be approved for return if return shipping costs exceed the value of the merchandise. Return shipping costs are often higher than those paid to have the order shipped. Any eligible refund will be forfeited for abandoned packages. Refunds on returned packages will be reduced by shipping costs and any other fees incurred.

DHL shipping: we have adjusted the store to only accommodate express shipping. This is determined by weight and by size of the package. We are able to ship worldwide, but if you are unsure of shipping, or if your location isnt available at checkout, please dont hesitate to contact us.
